It’s been a while since our last edition of Meet the Team (no January birthdays in the Zooniverse!). Today it’s the turn of Laura Whyte to introduce herself to all of you…
Name – Laura Whyte
Twitter Name – @whytewithay
Job – Director of Citizen Science – Adler Planetarium, Chicago
What do you do within the Zooniverse? – I do various bits for the Zooniverse, oversee some project building, help write grants, talk to science teams – that kind of thing. But there are a few things I’m particularly passionate about, firstly trying to bring real science into schools and get kids involved in citizen science. Secondly looking for ways to get visitors to the Adler Planetarium engaged in our projects and the third is trying to develop citizen science projects that draw volunteers deeper into the research process. Those are the things that get me out of bed in the morning!
What are your two favourite Zooniverse projects? – Snapshot Serengeti of course and Space Warps for making what seemed impossible possible.
What is your favourite movie? – Back to the Future. It’s funny, makes me feel nostalgic and I can watch it with the kids.
What is you favourite album? – The Book for Mormon Sound Track
What is your favourite novel? – Jack and the Flumflum Tree by Julia Donaldson – Don’t recall the last time I read an adult book, but I really love reading this one to the kids.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAURA!!!
