Meet PH2 b, which was the second planet confirmed by the Planet Hunters project. This image is a composite artistic impression showing the planet and its host star from a hypothetical habitable moon. PH2 b orbits in the habitable zone around its star but it is a gas giant ten times the size of the Earth, probably very similar to Jupiter. One of the volunteers who spotted the planet in the Planet Hunters data was 71-year-old retired police inspector Roy Jackson from Gateshead. When asked what motivated him to take part in the project he famously said “There is nothing worth watching on the television and there’s only so much gardening you can do and you have to have other things to fill your time in.”
