As an astronomer I’ve spent a lot of my time cursing the clouds for getting in the way of my observations. To get round this we try to put telescopes in space (like Hubble). However, in the Floating Forests project the researchers have the same issue from the other side! They are using satellites to image large kelp forests in coastal waters around the world, and quite often those pesky clouds get in the way. Their one saving grace is that they can sometimes make for interesting or pretty pictures. Get involved in the project now at www.floatingforests.org, and fingers crossed for clear skies!
