The aim of Zooniverse biomedical project Brain Match is to improve methods of studying brain biology. In this project, volunteers are asked to rate how well brain scans have been matched to a standard template – a process called registration that is crucial for comparing the anatomy of different brains.
The image above shows some initial findings from this project; on the left you can see where experts have identified misalignments, and on the right where volunteers have done the same task – showing that there is a high level of agreement between our Zooniverse volunteers and neuro-imaging experts.
