Zooniverse Advent: Day 17 – Parochial Archive Project in Rome

Today’s Advent Calendar treat is a brand new transcription project – Parochial Archive Project in Rome

The Parochial Archive Project is a unique historical resource that has been worked on for over four decades. This paper based archive contains handwritten and typewritten transcriptions of Dutch and Flemish (plus some German) nationals who lived in Rome from the 1550s until roughly the 1700s. At present, this corpus of archival transcriptions is, at its most, a reference work that contains data about engravers, painters, sculptors, etc. on a detailed micro-level.

They are starting with a very small dataset, but the transcriptions are quite involved and they could use as much help to get going as possible. Do them a favour this Christmas season at www.zooniverse.org/projects/vincent-/parochial-archive-project-in-rome.
