Last week the Zooniverse was in attendance at the Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference 2018 in London, which was hosted by the UK government. We had an exhibition stand alongside other research groups highlighting the various ways technology can be used to protect endangered species.
We had the chance to talk about our work with various UK politicians and delegates from foreign countries, and we were sure to explain the importance of camera trapping projects when it comes to fighting poaching. The highlight of the day was when Zooniverse researcher Brooke Simmons was able to talk to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. She even got him to do a classification on Snapshot Grumeti (pictured above) – I’m told he correctly counted the number of zebras in the image!
