Help us celebrate Douglass Day 2022 with the Colored Conventions Project!

From the team: “Every Valentine’s Day, we invite you to a birthday party for Frederick Douglass. Although Douglass never knew his birthdate, he chose to celebrate every year on February 14th. We celebrate this date as a moment for creating Black history together.”

This year, the event will transcribe the records of the 19th century campaign for Black civil rights known as the Colored Conventions. Particular focus will be given to uncovering the roles of Black women in the conventions. We are delighted to once again host the Douglass Day transcribe-a-thon on Zooniverse, following on 2020’s event transcribing the papers of Anna Julia Cooper.

Join us online on February 14, from 12-3pm (EDT) for the live broadcast with speakers, performances, the Second Annual Great Douglass Day Bake Off(!), and more! Learn more and register for the event at https://douglassday.org/.
